THE 2020 JAZZ GALLERY ALL-STARS
CONCERT AT THE KENNEDY CENTER

THURSDAY OCTOBER 8th, 2020 at 8pm

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF CREATIVE MUSIC!

Celebrating 25 years of creative music, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars will be making their first post Covid-19 performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC on October 8th.  Since its founding in 1995 by Roy Hargrove, Dale Fitzgerald, and Lezlie Harrison, New York City's The Jazz Gallery has been a key institution in the city's jazz and creative music scene. Known as "the most imaginatively booked jazz club in New York" (New York Times), The Gallery has welcomed and nurtured several generations of musicians from around the world, including many who have gone on to critical acclaim as Grammy Award® nominees and winners, MacArthur Fellows, Thelonious Monk Competition winners and finalists, Critics' Poll-winners, and headliners at major international festivals.

The Jazz Gallery celebrates its 25th Anniversary in 2020 with a special ensemble featuring many of the leading creative voices in jazz- all of whom cut their teeth on The Jazz Gallery stage. The Jazz Gallery All-Stars is made up of Miguel Zenón (alto saxophone), Melissa Aldana (tenor saxophone), Joel Ross (vibraphone), Charles Altura (guitar), Aaron Parks (piano), Ben Williams (bass), Kendrick Scott (drums), and special guest Renee Neufville (voice).

The Jazz Gallery first introduced the All-Stars at the JVC Jazz Festival in 2010 for its 15th Anniversary. The group consisted of some of the finest young musicians, bandleaders and composers with serious connections to The Jazz Gallery, including founding member, trumpeter Roy Hargrove and MacArthur Fellow Miguel Zenon. On the 25th anniversary of the venue, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars made a triumphant return. Their first concert in January at the 2020 Winter Jazz Festival was a massive success. While their concerts have all but been cancelled for 2020, The Jazz Gallery All-Stars will return to perform at the Kennedy Center's stage on October 8th, 2020, propelling the vision and mission of The Jazz Gallery to the whole world.

"The Jazz Gallery is the foremost venue in New York City to launch the careers of exceptional young jazz artists since it was founded in Roy Hargrove's loft in 1995,"- Hank O'Neal, The Jazz Gallery Chairman of the Board
