7pm EDT via ZOOM (link sent in confirmation email)
$20/$10 members

THE LOCKDOWN SESSIONS - Every Saturday.  Hear a set recorded by musicians in their respective lockdown stations, and join us for for the culminating concert where each musician will present their set and answer any questions & chat (this will be a slightly different format to our Words & Music Happy Hours).

Reservations are required at $20/$10 members.  We will send you a Zoom link with instructions approx. 30 minutes before the Lockdown Session.

In most online concerts, we’ve noticed that unfortunately the music does not come through as well as anyone would desire; we do not want to create a situation where our artists are not presented at their best so we’ve come up with a solution whereby each musician will pre-record their 15min set and we’ll screen them together at the Lockdown Session. The musicians will be on the session also, to answer any audience questions and will chat with each other as well.

Each Lockdown Session will be recorded on the day, so anyone who purchases a ticket will have access post-concert.

VIJAY IYER
Composer-pianist Vijay Iyer has carved out a unique path as an influential, prolific, shape-shifting presence in modern music. He was described by Pitchfork as “one of the best in the world at what he does,” by the Los Angeles Weekly as “a boundless and deeply important young star,” by the New York Times as a “social conscience, multimedia collaborator, system builder, rhapsodist, historical thinker and multicultural gateway,” and by Minnesota Public Radio as “an American treasure.” A musical innovator, an active collaborator, and a member of multiple artistic communities, Iyer continues to reimagine the role of the musician in the 21st century.

ERIC REVIS
One of the most talented and accomplished musicians of his generation, Grammy Award-winning bassist and composer Eric Revis has firmly established himself as an important voice in jazz. Branford Marsalis states, “Eric’s sound is the sound of doom; big, thick, percussive.” Scores of musicians across various disciplines agree. Revis has performed and recorded with Betty Carter, Peter Brötzmann, Jeff “Tain” Watts, Jason Moran, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Steve Coleman, Ralph Peterson, Lionel Hampton, McCoy Tyner, Andrew Cyrille, and Tarbaby, the experimental trio he tri-leads with Orrin Evans and Nasheet Waits, as well as another trio, Options, also with Waits, and Bennie Maupin.

KOKAYI
Artist. Producer.Educator | Connector of dots…Kokayi has featured on dozens of albums since the onset of his career, including titles by contemporaries such as Goldlink, Gregoire Maret, Terri Lynne Carrington, Omar Sosa, Steve Coleman and Dafnis Prieto as well as continuing to perform as a member of Steve Coleman’s Five Elements, Ambrose Akinmusire’s Origami Harvest and Dafnis Prieto’s Proverb Trio.

"My work is an amalgamation of my life experiences as filtered through; DC, Go-go and the music begat from the African diaspora."

VANISHA GOULD
Vanisha Gould, California native, began singing at the age of 4. Her love for jazz and its culture led her to New York where she currently sings professionally. Influenced by Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Sarah Vaughan, and Billie Holiday, Vanisha has curated her own sound and has performed on some of New York’s best stages.  In New York she leads her own band performing original compositions and classics from the Great American Songbook.
